Prior to beginning any permanent makeup procedure all microorganisms must be destroyed on all equipment in order to ensure client protection.

• The Three Steps
There are three necessary steps to achieve proper sterilization:

• The first is to pre clean all objects and remove any residue. The best method for pre-cleaning is an ultrasonic machine with an enzymatic cleaner such as Bioson or G-Zyme.
   
• Once the objects are cleaned they are ready for sterilization in a steam autoclave or a dry heat cabinet. The autoclave is the preferred technique because of its proven success. Both systems kill all microorganisms, including the bacterial spore that is the most resistant microbiological life form. These two methods are the only sterilization practices proven to be completely safe.
   
• The final step to maintaining proper infection control standards is Third Party Verification. This is a spore test done monthly by an independent lab to ensure that all equipment is functioning. The Micro-Pigmentation Centre sells the complete test kit including 12 test papers and the addressed envelopes to be sent to the lab. The lab issues a report certificate stating that you are properly monitoring sterilization techniques, and that they meet the safety guidelines.
